About Lions Club International

The mission of the Lions Club International is to create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation. The Lions Clubs are recognized for helping the visual and hearing impaired though countless local efforts, as well as through their international SightFirst Program, Lions World Sight Day, and collecting eyeglasses for distribution in developing countries year-round. World-wide, there are approximately 45,000 clubs in 201 countries around the world with a membership of 1.3 million members. The Momence Chapter has been active since 1945 and currently has a diverse membership of 32 members ranging in ages from 27 up to 84. In addition, Lions make a strong commitment to young people through youth outreach programs. Lions also work to improve the environment, build homes for the disabled, support diabetes education, conduct hearing programs and, through their foundation, provide disaster relief around the world.
